Necessary Nannies and Caregivers is an Idaho-grown and Treasure Valley-based business established in 2005 by Karla and Verlyn Brower.

Our vision was to establish a personal nanny and caregiver referral and placement service for the families of the Treasure Valley and beyond.  Thirteen years later, this purpose remains!  While technology has impacted most businesses and the way that individuals reach out to local services and friends, at Necessary Nannies and Caregivers we maintain that the most sincere and meaningful relationships begin in person.  We endeavor to meet each family and each nanny or caregiver candidate face-to-face to establish a working relationship together.

Karla and Verlyn have been Idaho residents for twenty--three years.  As the parents of three adult children and grandparents to four granddaughter, they understand first-hand the joys and challenges of parenthood and can sincerely identify with the needs of active, caring families in our community.

Karla has been assisting families with their caregiver and childcare needs for sixteen years.  Prior to establishing Necessary Nannies, she directed a Boise-based caregiver agency where she hired, trained, and supervised a staff of caregivers serving the needs of senior and child clients in our community.

Together, Verlyn and Karla have traveled to South America, Europe, and Asia.  With their young family, they lived for a time in Venezuela and Albania (Eastern Europe) working with a non-profit humanitarian organization.  Some of their memories include traveling in a dugout canoe down a jungle river in South Venezuela, providing help to Albanian families after the end of communism in Eastern Europe, and teaching English in a village school near the Thai/Burmese Border.

Verlyn and Karla are active members of the Meridian community.  Verlyn works with the Meridian Fire Department as an engineer.  He loves spending time in the Idaho "outback".  Other endeavors for Karla are participating in  the Meridian Coop Garden at Kleiner Park and as a Master Gardener through the Ada County Extension Office, practicing yoga, and sharing her love of art and creativity with children.  Together they enjoy spending time with their family and (including four granddaughters!) and exploring the wonders of Idaho and the Northwest.
